There were over 2,200 patients waiting for appointments at Ennis Hospital at the end of last month.
The latest figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund shows there’s been a 30% increase within the last year.
Once again, Cardiology was the discipline most in demand at Ennis Hospital, with 1,270 patients on the list, with more than a quarter waiting over 18 months for an appointment.
There were also marginal increases in the number of service users waiting to see a consultant in rheumatology, with 130 now on that list.
The General Surgery list in Ennis increased by 60% in the space of a month, rising from 102 patients in February to 164 at the end of March, while the Urology list expanded from 549 patients to 600.
There were improvements on the children’s list at the county hospital , which almost halved from 28 patients to 15 over the period.
At University Hospital Limerick , there were over 35,000 patients waiting for appointments at the end of March, marking a 3% increase in the last month.
There one-fifth of all endocrinology patients are waiting more than 18 months for appointments.
