No One Left Clare’s Homeless Services For Private Rental Or AHB Accommodation In First Three Months Of 2026

Not a single person who exited Clare’s homeless services in the first three months of this year moved to private rental or approved housing body accommodation.

The latest Clare County Council data reveals securing temporary accommodation was the most common pathway for those leaving homeless services in this county in January, February and March.

A total of 102 people exited homeless services operated by Clare County Council in the first quarter of 2026.

Of these, 12 moved to temporary accommodation, four were admitted to hospital, three entered independent living with supports and a further three were “excluded” for breaking rules.

Additionally, two people returned to family or friends, two moved to a local authority tenancy and one went to supported housing for youths.

The data shows that 75 people exited for “other” reasons across this period, with this figure including those who availed of the Winter Bed Initiative which was rolled out last November and provided ten extra beds to those in need during the winter months.

Excluding these individuals, there were 27 exits from Clare’s homeless services in the first three months of the year, indicating a drop of 41% on the same period of 2025.

Clare County Council’s figures reveal that in the opening quarter of 2026, no one exited its homeless services to move to a private rental home, a property provided by an approved housing body or a residential treatment facility.
