An expert in renal function is urging Clare patients to intervene in their health early to avoid treatments like Dialysis in the long-term.
Over 50,000 people in Ireland are living with Chronic Kidney Disease and members of the public are being encouraged to increase their awareness on this World Kidney Day.

At present, roughly 80 Clare people are travelling to Limerick and Galway each week for dialysis.
Clinician Scientist and Kidney Professor of Medicine at the University of Limerick Austin Stack says being proactive is vital.
