MEPs from the Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy have toured a number of projects in the South West which are carrying out work in the areas of technology and energy.

A cross party group from a variety of member of states had a briefing with Shannon LNG, which is proposing to build a 28 million cubic metre gas import terminal in the Shannon Estuary and with representatives from Shannon Foynes Port Company.

Fine Gael MEP for Ireland South, Sean Kelly, who organised the visit, is hopeful it will lead to increased European investment in the region.
