A man has appeared in court in Limerick charged in connection with a violent burglary at a home in West Clare last year.

23-year-old Dean O'Connor of no fixed abode was arrested at an address in Clare Street in Limerick this morning.
He appeared before Limerick District Court charged with false imprisonment, assault causing harm and burglary at Shyan, Kilmihil on August 14th 2014.
Gardaí opposed an application for bail, and Mr. O'Connor was remanded in custody to appear before the court via videolink next Tuesday
