The number of people on the Live Register in Clare has dropped to its lowest in almost 18 months.
More than 4,400 people in this county signed on at local social welfare offices in the month of September.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show 4,458 people across the county received some form of unemployment benefit in September.
This represents a 5.2% decrease, or 245 fewer people in a single month, which makes it the lowest level of people receiving unemployment benefit in the county since May 2022.
Almost half of those on the Live Register here paid a visit to Ennis’s social welfare office last month, with 2,174 people availing of unemployment benefit in the county town.
1,023 people signed on in Ennistymon, followed by a further 674 recipients receiving their payment in Kilrush.
In addition, Tulla’s office saw 587 people come through its door to claim some form of benefit in August.
Nationally, the unadjusted Live Register total stood at 174,150 people for September with over 54% being male and over 69% Irish.
