Local representatives in West and North Clare want all of the parties involved in the decision to implement a swimming ban at three Clare beaches this past weekend to explain the reasons behind it.
Swimming was prohibited at Kilkee, Spanish Point and Lahinch after routine tests there last week found traces of e-coli.
The beaches were re-opened on Saturday afternoon after further tests gave the all clear, but calls have now been made for a detailed explanation.
Clare County Council’s decision came after consultations with a number of national agencies, and North Clare Senator Martin Conway feels all of those involved need to explain the rationale behind it.
