There’s plenty local involvement in the caddying teams, with Clare football star Mark McInerney on the bag for Padraig Harrington’s group, while the rest of the local caddying team at Doonbeg were also called into action.

The Make A Wish Foundation are the charity partners for the Amgen Irish Open and are located at the entrance to the Championship Village.

Local schools are also having their day out to soak in the atmosphere of this historic occasion, with the likes of Clohanes, Doonbeg and Cree National schools among those represented.

Former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler, along with All Ireland winners Gearoid Hegarty and Ryan O’Donoghue are among those expected to be popular on the tee later this afternoon, while former Munster star Conor Murray and ex boxer Michael Conlon will also tee it up this lunchtime.
