Housing Minister Promises Further Support For Clare Affordable Schemes

The Housing Minister has promised that further supports will be made available for Clare people struggling to access affordable homes.

Under the scheme, which is active in Ennis and Shannon, local authorities purchase a stake in designated properties to reduce the up-front cost of new homes for moderate income earners.

Clare County Council has confirmed though that any affordable homes due to come on stream, will target those in the €55,000 to €70,000 income bracket, despite the cut-off for social housing being €35,000.

Speaking on a visit to Ennis, Fianna Fáil’s Darragh O’Brien insists that help will be forthcoming for households caught in that gap.
