It’s hoped Ennis can continue building momentum after again being recognised for its vibrant night-time economy.
Ennis has retained its Purple Flag status for another year following a recent overnight inspection.
Purple Flag accreditation is awarded to towns and cities that offer an entertaining, diverse, safe and enjoyable night out.
Ennis was the first town in Ireland to receive the Purple Flag in 2013 and has retained it each year since then.
Assessment takes place between 5pm and 5am, with judges also given access to crime statistics in the town for the previous three years.
Ennis is one of nine areas across the island of Ireland to receive a full renewal for the coming year.
Chair of the Ennis Purple Flag Committee, Mayor of Ennis, Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Guilfoyle, says the town is among the top tier worldwide for its night-time offering.
There are just 100 Purple Flag towns and cities worldwide, which includes destinations in New Zealand, Australia, Malta and Sweden.
The De Valera Library and Súil Gallery, along with Glór, were praised by adjudicators for their combination of historical character and cultural significance, which creates “an inviting evening experience”.
County Librarian Cora Gunter says the town’s offerings work in tandem with each other to provide a strong experience for visitors.
