The number of complaints received by the Garda Watchdog last year, relating to Clare, has risen marginally.
GSOC’s annual report has revelaed that there were 100 complaints about incidents in this county in 2017, up from 96 the previous year.

They’re among just under 2,000 nationally, with the main allegations relating to an officer’s abuse of their authority or neglect of their duty – as well as for non-fatal offences like assault and harassment.
The body’s annual report also shows 24 referrals were received by Garda Divisions, including 1 in Clare, in cases where an officer’s conduct may have resulted in the death or serious harm of someone.
