Further remand pending bail application in Ennis Feuding Case

Ennis District Court has heard that four men charged in connection with violent feuding in Clare’s County Town have applied for bail at the High Court.

The three men and a teenager who were arrested following a ramming incident at the Maid of Erin over a week ago have been further remanded pending the application.

20 year old Bernie McDonagh Junior of 1, Ashline, Ennis is charged with assault causing harm of John Doherty at the Maid of Erin on Sunday October 14th and two charges in relation to the possession and use of a Stanley Knife.

45 year old Bernard McDonagh of Ashline, Ennis is accused of ramming a number of vehicles including a garda car creating a substantial risk of serious harm or death.

He’s also charged with three counts of criminal damage and the assault of John Doherty at the Maid of Eireann on Sunday October 14th.

 37 year old Christopher McDonagh of Childers Rd Ennis is charged with possession of an iron bar with intent to cause injury to John, Martin and Jimmy Doherty – and a 16 year old  – who cannot be named  – is accused of intent to harm the same three members of the Doherty family while in possession of a hatchet.

Today Ennis District Court was told that gardaí  are awaiting for instructions from the Director of Public Prosecution while solicitor D. Hassett informed the court that a bail application to the High Court was pending.

Judge Patrick Durkan further remanded all four in custody and the case due back before the court on November 7th for DPP directions.
