Gardaí are investigating a gun attack in Co Offaly in which a former Fianna Fail councillor was targeted.
Just before 11 o’clock this morning a number of shots were fired at Ger Killally as he was leaving his home in his car in Shean, in Edenderry.
The former general election candidate then drove a short distance away before colliding with a ditch overturning the car.
Mr Killally along with his father and two young sons aged 2 and 3 sustained minor injuries.
A garda investigation into the incident is underway
Mr Killally who also ran alongside the former Taoiseach Brian Cowen in 2002 general election has in the past year appeared before the civil courts in relation to a number of business and development deals.
