Former Clare Deputy Principal Says “SNA Job Threats Deplorable”

Despite confirming that the number of Special Needs Assistants posts nationwide would be increased to beyond 25,000 by the end of this year, the Department of Education issued a number of schools, including Flagmount in East Clare with notices indicating their SNA allocations could be removed.

The Government paused the review last week following significant backlash and has now pledged an additional €19m to funding SNA roles.

It says, however, that a review of posts will be carried out for the following year.
