Hopes are high in Doonbeg that the arrival of Donald Trump will lead to a boost in fishing facilities.
Campaigners there have long-since sought an upgrade of Doonbeg Pier, and have now been granted 5,000 euro for a new feasibility study.

They say improved facilities will allow the pier to be used at low tides, and would be an added attraction for tourists, who are expected to converge on Doonbeg to sample the Golf Club and Resort which was recently taken over by the American billionaire.
