Friends of the Irish Environment claims its opposition to a new ballroom at the US President’s West Clare resort has “nothing to do with the owner”.
The environmental group is threatening to go to the High Court over plans for a single-storey ballroom and other enhancements at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Doonbeg.
The development was given the green light by Clare County Council in February but Friends of the Irish Environment are raising concerns around drainage plans as well as the presence of the Vertigo Angustior snail which is said to be in “terminal decline”.
FIE Director Tony Lowes insists their sole focus is on promises made on environmental measures that haven’t been kept.
