The HSE is urging Clare families to avail of free nasal flu-vaccinations this week in order to avoid illnesses this Christmas.
283 cases of the virus were detected in the second week of December alone, while the symptoms can involve a high temperature, muscle pains, headache and extreme tiredness.
Children are understood to be the greatest carriers of the virus and the HSE has noted a recent surge in community transmissions.
