Ennis deemed clean but slips 11 places in litter league standings

Ennis’s ranking in the "litter free" stakes is continuing to slip.

The results of the latest Irish Businesses Against Litter League places Clare’s County Town in 27th position for 2012 and while its been deemed "Clean to European Norms" – its fallen 11 places from the ranking attained the previous year.

Ennis was among 13 towns to receive the latest designation by IBAL while a further 22 were classed as cleaner than European Norms while parts of Limerick, Dublin and Cork still deemed to be blackspots.

The overall winner for the year will be announced later today.

Some areas around Ennis like the main approach roads received a glowing report in the latest survey but IBAL chairman Dr Tom Cavanagh says other areas lost it points.
