The CEO of Ennis-based FASD Ireland has criticised the government for its failure to recognise Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder as a disability.
It comes ahead of the organisation’s second annual international conference at Hotel Woodstock, which will bring together leading international experts, policymakers, advocates and families affected by the condition.
Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is a lifelong, preventable neurodevelopmental condition caused by alcohol exposure in the womb, which can affect the brain and body, leading to permanent, varied challenges with learning, behavior, and physical health.
Chief Executive Officer of Ennis-based FASD Ireland, Tristan Casson-Rennie says he has many sleepless nights over the government’s lack of engagement on the issue.
