New Mayor Of Clare Calls For “Cooperative” With Neighbouring Local Authorities

The new Mayor of Clare wants to see a “cooperative” set up between Clare County Council and neighbouring local authorities for the betterment of the wider region.

Corofin Fianna Fáil Councillor Joe Killeen has been elected Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council at the annual general meeting of the local authority.

The former INTO president is the second member of his family to serve in the role after his cousin, former Defence Minister Tony Killeen, who wore the chain of office from 1989 to 1991.

Councillor Killeen believes Clare, Limerick and Galway should pull together to secure more funding for vital infrastructure and services.
