The Ennis diver who took part in the successful mission to rescue a Thai soccer team and their coach from a flooded cave has been honoured by his native and adopted countries.
Last night, Belgian national Jim Warny – who has lived here for fifteen years – was presented with an award on behalf of Belgian King Philippe in a ceremony at the country’s embassy in Dublin.

Before that, Jim was welcomed to government buildings by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, following a suggestion for such recognition from Clarecastle Fine Gael Councillor Paul Murphy.
The Taoiseach paid tribute to Jim and the team for their heroic actions.
