Clare's opposition TD says the government shouldn't follow the lead of Ryanair when deciding whether it should sell the state's shares in Aer Lingus.
The comments from Fianna Fáil's Timmy Dooley come amid suggestions that the sale of the airline now hinges on Ryanair’s intentions for its own 29.8% stake.
Tanaiste Joan Burton says Ryanair's approach will be "very significant" in any decision, but Deputy Dooley thinks these comments are disappointing.
He wants the government to only consider issues of national interest, including employment and connectivity.
