Call For Traffic Calming To Be Factored Into Clare Housing Estate Planning

A call has been made for traffic calming measures to be incorporated into the planning stage of future housing estates in this county.

The Chair of Clare’s Joint Policing Committee has highlighted concerns of parents in the Gort na Null, Lios Anama and Inis Orga estates at this month’s meeting of the Shannon Municipal District, who he says are “very, very worried” for their children’s safety.

Concerns around road safety have emerged in recent weeks, following a number of high-profile traffic incidents across the country, including one in which a three-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a car in a Laois housing estate.
