The cost of renting just a single room in a house in Clare is now nearly 600 euro a month.
The latest rental report from property website daft.ie shows the monthly cost for new tenants is continuing to climb.
Market rents rose sharply in the first quarter of 2026, according to Daft.ie’s latest report, with the national average increasing by 4.4% between December and March, the largest quarterly increase in rents in a series extending back to 2002.
Here in Clare, the cost of renting a three-bed rose by 8.3% over that period to €1,780 a month.
A four-bed was setting new tenants back €2,162, which was 21% above the figure for the same period of 2025.
On May 1st, there were 213 homes to rent across Munster, representing an increase of 20% on a year ago.
On the same day, new tenants in Clare had to fork out €597 for just a single room in a house, while a double room in a house cost €744 on average, if it had an en-suite and €642 without an en-suite.
Just ten years ago, renters in Clare would have had the same monthly cost for an entire house.
