A Clare government representative doesn’t believe there’s currently a need to impose a ‘raft of restrictions’ on the public.

It comes after NPHET met with the three coalition leaders last night to discuss the emergence of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, with a full Cabinet meeting due to take place today to decide if further measures are needed to contain the spread of the variant.

Among the measures being examined is the broadening of testing rules so that all passengers arriving into the country would require a negative PCR test to gain entry, regardless of vaccination status.
