The Clare-based chief executive of Retail Excellence Ireland claims the county’s young people are missing out on part-time job opportunities due to rising wage costs.
The group is urging the Low Pay Commission to pause any further minimum wage increases next year as it claims recent hikes have put unsustainable financial pressure on businesses.

The minimum wage went up on January 1st by almost 5% to €14.15 per hour for workers aged 20 and over.
Jean McCabe says small and medium-sized businesses are reducing roles to manage costs.
