A Clare technology expert says social media companies will be “starting from scratch” to enforce age verification laws set to implemented by the Government.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has brought a memo to Cabinet stating Ireland will work with other EU countries to introduce legislation restricting children below a certain age from using particular websites.

This is despite Communications Minister Patrick O’Donovan calling for a ban on under-16s using social media.
Pat Clarke Browne of Munster Business in Shannon says many platforms failed to enforce age limits in the past.
