Clare TD Says Finance Minister Must Clarify If He Knew Of AIB Cashless Plans

A Clare TD says the Finance Minister needs to clarify whether he knew about AIBs plans to make 70 of its branches cashless.

AIB announced last week that its branches at Killaloe, Ennistymon, Shannon and Kilrush along with a further 66 nationwide would loose their cash facilities.

AIB then reversed its decision to remove cash services after a public outcry.

The Irish Independent reports Paschal Donohoe’s Department of Finance knew about the bank’s cashless plans beforehand.

Independent Deputy Michael McNamara is now calling on the Finance Minister to clarify if he had knowledge of the proposal in advance.
