A Clare TD is leading the push for primary and secondary students to have more learning breaks as part of the school day and a condensed list of subjects.
It comes as the Oireachtas Education Committee has recommended a move towards the Finnish model.

A report compiled following a visit to the country has also suggested reforms to school meals, food and nature education, language teaching and increased counsellor supports.
Chair of the Oireachtas Education Committee and Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe also believes school water charges have to go.
