Confidence has been expressed that Ryanair’s €50M investment plan at Shannon Airport will come to fruition despite a “minor planning disagreement.”
Clare County Council has delayed a decision on the Budget Airline’s plans for a new maintenance, repair and overhaul hangar, along with an engineering academy, at the airport over soil contamination concerns.
Ryanair has threatened to relocate the development, which is expected to create at least 300 jobs, to Poland if the project is significantly delayed.
Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe believes the issues can be resolved and that construction will begin next year.
