It’s claimed more manpower needs to be directed to Clare’s beaches to ensure ‘minimum services’ are operational on a 24/7 basis.
It follows calls from residents for the public toilets at White Strand, Miltown Malbay, to remain open year round, with the facilities currently open from from June 1st to September 30th.
In a statement to Clare FM, Clare County Council says toilet facilities ‘operate on a seasonal basis,’ adding that ‘public toilet facilities are available year-round at Spanish Point Beach, which is located nearby’.
Quilty Fianna Fáil Councillor, Michael Shannon, says it’s not good enough, given the high visitor traffic to White Strand.
