A Clare TD has warned that an incident of criminal damage in Castletroy could reinforce negative perceptions of students, amid a worsening student accommodation crisis.
Gardaí are investigating criminal damage at a vacant house in College Court, where videos circulating online show holes kicked in walls, ceilings pulled down and windows broken.
The University of Limerick has appealed to those involved to come forward, while UL Student Life has reminded students that support is available to anyone affected by the incident, directly or indirectly.
Shannon Sinn Féin TD Donna McGettigan, the party’s spokesperson for Further and Higher Education, says the incident comes at a time when students are already facing significant challenges in securing accommodation.
