Clare Service Station Expresses Support For Fuel Protest But Criticises Method

A Clare service station manager is expressing support for those protesting against rising fuel prices but says she doesn’t agree with the way in which they’re going about it.

Traffic is again at a standstill on the M18 and N18 this morning as the group calling itself ‘The People of Ireland Against Fuel Prices’ is blockading all major routes for the fourth consecutive day.

Government will be meeting with official haulier, farming and forestry representative bodies later today, but despite claims last night its understood they won’t be talking to protesters.

The army remains on standby as fears rise of shortages caused by blockades at fuel plants in Cork, Galway and Limerick.

Co-owner and manager of O’Sullivan Hansbury’s Mace in Ennis, Caroline Ryan, says those in power need to “wake up” to the various ways businesses are squeezed.
