Clare has recorded a major increase in electric car sales in the months since the onset of the Iran war.
The latest figures from The Society of the Irish Motor Industry show 74 such vehicles were sold in the county in April, a 200% increase from the same month in 2025.

Sales in hybrid models also jumped by just under 20% last month, with petrol-electric hybrids accounting for 43% of all cars sold in Clare this year.
However, SIMI Director General, Brian Cooke, says nationwide figures are still below the level required to hit climate targets.
