It’s claimed many homeowners in Clare will still be left tens of thousands of euro short for repairs despite changes to the defective concrete block scheme.
Last October, the Government increased the maximum amount available under the scheme to €462,000 but this higher bracket was only available to new applicants to the scheme.

Now under new changes, all eligible homeowners can apply for the increased amount retrospectively, while the period to complete works has also been doubled to 130 weeks.
Crusheen-based founder of the Clare Pyrite Action Group, Dr Martina Cleary, says while the changes are necessary, smaller households won’t receive the full compensation required.
