The Clare Public Participation Network says more needs to be done by the local authority to improve the safety of the county’s road network, including the appointment of a designated road safety officer.
Across the country 185 people were killed in 174 fatal road traffic collisions in 2025, an increase of 14 from the number of fatalities seen in 2024.

Meanwhile, of four people lost their lives on Clare’s roads last year three were vulnerable road users.
Clare PPN representative on the Tourism Development SPC, Andy Lambert, says many vital road safety positions are lacking in the county.
