A Clare poet travelling with a Gaza-bound international humanitarian aid flotilla admits she’s nervous, but remains determined to deliver vital supplies to the Palestinian people.
Sarah Clancy, who resided in Ballyvaugan for almost a decade, is part of a coalition of four different groups from 44 countries globally, attempting to open up a humanitarian corridor allowing access to vital food and medical supplies.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, which has been described as a non-violent, civil society movement is the third aid flotilla of its kind in recent months to attempt to break the Israeli siege on Gaza.
The flotilla has been hampered by rough weather conditions in recent days, resulting in Sarah having to steer one of the boats as some of the crew members succumbed to sea sickness.
Sarah is calling on the Irish Government to take every necessary step to ensure they’re released, in the event they’re captured so that aid can be delivered.
