The number of homes under construction in Clare has more than doubled in the last year.
New figures show the number of housing commencements between January and March is up significantly on the same period of 2025.
Between January and March, construction began on 100 new housing units in this county, which is up over 190% on the same period of last year.
The bulk of this activity came in February when works began on 43 new homes in Clare, while a further 33 dwellings were started in March, and 24 were commenced in January.
39 of the properties started were one-off homes, more than triple the figure recorded between last January and March.
There were also 53 housing estate units commenced , compared to none in the first quarter of 2025.
The only reduction was in the number of apartments under construction, which fell from 18 to 8.
