A Clare-based former National Bus and Rail Union official fears the new public transport security force won’t be given the teeth to do its work effectively.
Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien has confirmed this week that the planned dedicated security force for buses and trains will have powers of arrest and pursuit.

It’s been revealed however that the agency will be modelled on the airport police and will be controlled by the National Transport Authority instead of An Garda Síochána.
Killaloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O’Brien doesn’t think this is the right way to go.
