Clare Disability Rights Activist Calls For Change To Housing Adaptation Grant Means Test

A Clare disability rights activist is calling on the Government to alter the means test for housing adaptation grants, claiming applicants are unfairly being denied the full amount available.

The Department of Housing has announced that Clare is set to receive €4.1 million for the delivery of the grants in 2026.

The allocation for 2026 represents an increase of approximately €1 million from last years figure, with €3.5 million provided in exchequer funding, and €600,000 contributed by Clare County Council.

Ennistymon-based Clare Leader Forum co-founder, Anne-Marie Flanagan, says in many cases the person applying for the grant is not the person subject to the means test.
