It’s claimed there’s no realistic pathway for Ukrainian medical professionals to find work in Clare due what’s being described as a “difficult and restrictive recognition process”.
In order for a qualified dentist from Ukraine to be accredited in Ireland, they must under a process of diploma recognition which can take up to a year, after which point they must pass an exam proving proficiency in English.
Dr Yuliia Setdikova worked as a dentist in Ukraine for several years before moving to Ireland in March 2022 and has operated as a general dentist in Ennis for over a year.
She says many qualified people are working in unskilled jobs at present due to stumbling blocks within the system.
