Frustrations have been raised that full time lifeguard monitoring of popular Clare bathing spots is ‘later than we’d like’.
Monitoring is underway at popular locations from the weekend of May 16th and will expand county wide from the beginning of June.

Ennistymon Fianna Fail Councillor, Shane Talty, claims ideally, lifeguards should be instated from ‘the minute the sun shines’.
However, he says the council is hamstrung by availability shortages of lifeguards around exam season.
