Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly is being asked to reinstate the title of Mayor for the chairperson of all local authorities in the country.

Clare Councillors say referring to the head of the council as Cathaoirleach causes confusion – both at home and abroad.
The title was axed for county councils as part of the reform of local government while some large municipal districts – like Ennis – have been allowed retain it.
The idea has received cross party support here and Cllr Pat McMahon says it would be much simpler for everyone – if the title of Mayor was permitted
