Calls have been made for a site alongside the motorway in Ennis to be zoned for the delivery of a model 3 or model 4 hospital in the future.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Daly made the request at this month’s meeting of Ennis Municipal District.

In response, Ennis MD says the proposal would have to be considered as part of the upcoming Clare County Development Plan review, with a number of considerations such as traffic access to be assessed first.
Councillor Daly is hopeful Clare will see it’s own hospital with an emergency department actioned in the next three to five years.
