Witness Appeal After Road Crash Involving Horse Leaves Two Hospitalised

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision in Ennis in the early hours of this morning.

Two people were hospitalised, one with serious life-threatening injuries, following the collision between a horse and a car on the outskirts of the town.

Emergency services were alerted after a horse and a car collided on the N85 between the Kilmaley Road and Rocky Road roundabouts shortly after 3 o’clock this morning.

The passenger, a woman in her 40s was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious life threatening injuries.

While the driver of the car, a man also in his 40s was also transferred to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be not life threatening at this time.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

They’re asking any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling on the N85 near Cahercalla More, between 2:45am and 3:15am overnight last night to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
