22% Increase In Learner Drivers Caught Unaccompanied In Clare/Tipp Division

The number of learner motorists caught driving unacommpanied in the Clare-Tipperary Garda Division has soared in the last year.

New figures show 395 drivers were prosecuted for the offence here in 2025, an annual increase of 22.7%.

The offence currently commands an immediate €160 fine along with two penalty points on a driver’s licence.

Ireland South Fianna Fáil MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurcú says it’s a serious risk for parents and guardians too.
