Theft rose by almost 10% in Clare in the final three months of 2025.
New data from the Central Statistics Office shows more than 200 incidents of theft and related offences were recorded in the county from September to December of last year.
There were more instances of theft and related offences than any other type of crime in Clare in the tail end of 2025, with 210 detected.
While this was down 21% on the previous three-month stretch, it was 8% above the figure for the same period of the previous year.
Road and traffic offences, public order and other social code offences, and dangerous or negligent acts were the next most common types of crime recorded here.
Theft was the most common form of criminality at six of the county’s 12 garda stations in 2025.
There were more incidents related to dangerous or negligent acts than any other offence in Shannon and Newmarket-on-Fergus.
In Ennistymon, public order and other social code offences accounted for more incidents than any other type while in Scariff, road and traffic offences were the most common.
In Kilkee meanwhile, damage to property and to the environment offences accounted for more incidents than any other form of crime.
