Air Traffic Control Issue Grounds Flights, May Impact Services On Wednesday Morning

Flights from Shannon and Cork Airports are resuming after an issue with air traffic control.

Flights at both airports were suspended due to what is reported to have been a ‘significant’ issue with the ATC system that is operated from Ballycasey, close to Shannon Airport.

The Irish Aviation Authority says the issue is being investigated, and that as a precaution the flow of air traffic over Ireland was restricted.

Dublin was not affected due to its proximity to the UK.

Services are returning to normal, but flights on Wednesday morning maybe affected if planes and/or crew are not in place to operated scheduled services.

Shannon is advising intending passengers to check with their airlines.

Updates have been issued tonight by Shannon Airport, and by the IAA.
