ACP Refuses Ballycar Windfarm Over Aviation Safety Risks

Contentious plans for a winfarm in South-East Clare have been refused by An Coimisúin Pleanála.

Ballycar Green Energy LTD’s proposal to build a 12 turbine 50 Mega-Watt winfarm had received over 60 public objections and was the subject of an oral hearing in January.

An Coimisúin Pleanála has now ruled that it’s not satisfied measures could be implemented by the applicant that would adequately mitigate aviation safety risks for Shannon Airport and AirNav Ireland.

The Commision has also stated its itention to recoup costs of €73,688 from the applicant.
