480 People Aged 50 To 59 Received Boosters In Ennis This Week

480 people aged 50 to 59 received COVID-19 vaccine booster doses in the former Outpatients Department in Ennis Hospital last week.

Figures from the UL Hospitals Group show more than 2,300 vaccines were administered last week, with more than 2,000 of them having been booster doses.

Nearly 200 of the jabs given out here last week were either dose 1 or dose 2 innoculations.

It’s expected that further walk in clinics and scheduled vaccination appointments will be made available again in the county town in the coming days.

UL Hospitals Group statement:

A total of 480 people aged between 50 and 59 years attended the COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Dose Walk-In Clinics at the Mid-West COVID-19 Vaccination Centre in the former Outpatients Department in Ennis Hospital this Thursday.

Up to close of business last Sunday, December 5th, our vaccinators had delivered a total of 427,377 doses of COVID-19 vaccine since the UL Hospitals Group COVID-19 vaccination programme began on January 4th. This total includes a Group-wide total of 34,274 Booster doses to date, and 8,002 Additional Dose 3 vaccines for the immune-compromised.

Last week, to close of business on December 5th, a total of 8,495 vaccines were administered across the three vaccination centres (Ennis, Limerick and Nenagh), including 1,038 Dose 1 and Dose 2 vaccines; 7,214 Booster doses; and 243 Additional Dose 3 vaccines.

In Ennis alone last week, there were 2,347 COVID-19 vaccines administered at the former Outpatients Department in Ennis Hospital. This total was made up of 2,057 Booster doses, 192 Dose 1 and Dose 2 vaccines; and 98 Additional Dose 3 vaccines.

The Booster vaccine totals referred to above include doses delivered to people aged 80 and older, those living in long-term residential care facilities, those in the 60-69 age group, as well as healthcare workers in the Mid-West.

The regional totals do not include the vaccination work that has been undertaken to date by our colleagues in HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare, the National Ambulance Service, General Practitioners and pharmacists.
